It was a busy weekend, the one from 11 to 13 September, when the logistics team meets in Ampezzo, to work on one of the most complex aspects of the Eurojam project: the organization of the camp.
The meeting, scheduled last July, was not originally on the agenda, but was deemed as essential: for a project of this scale, remote working is just as important as being on the ground, which helps to get to know the local areas, refine mapping, engage with the authorities and, last but not least, build team spirit.
With a very tight schedule, the team has completed the mapping of the area, which began in November 2025 with the identification of the site and its division into men’s and women’s sections.
The galley loading and unloading points, water supply points, cooking areas have been defined, all tailored to the villages which are the logistical heart of the entire system.
There will be 80 in total: 40 for boys and 40 for girls, each equipped with the needed facilities for the participants wellbeing. The support facilities have also been identified, ranging from the hospital ward to the provisions store.
The second area of work focused on drafting operational procedures: each department is defining its own service, assessing staffing and financial requirements, and the interconnections between the various areas.
The health service, for example, needs adequate transport; security requires dedicated pedestrian routes; transport services will need to manage arrivals and departures and to support the setting up of the villages; and human resources will be responsible for organizing shifts for the volunteers.
Procedures designed to ensure, even before the camp opens, that the infrastructure is functioning correctly and, consequently, that the entire service area is operating smoothly.
A weekend’s work that leaves us feeling satisfied and confident that we’re on track. The team emphasizes that they are fully committed to the project –‘body and soul’ – with the aim of combining technical expertise with the spirit that has always characterized the Scout way: simplicity and the ability to do things well.
